Insurance Agent -

Our Average Agent Earned over $160,000 last year: Farmers Insurance Group

District Manager David Graves from Denver Colorado states that his average Agent makes 160k per year.

According to the Colorado Department of Insurance, Farmers Insurance Exchange and companies wrote the following in P&C premium in 2005:

  • Farmers Insurance Exchange: $308,273,000
  • Foremost: $1,167,000
  • Mid-Century: $118,531,000

Total:

Give or take a few, theres about 500 Farmers Agents in Colorado. With those numbers, we can figure out approximately how much the "average" agent in the State has available to them based on written premium.

Being generous, because policy transfers only pay 50% commission and renewals and such are at a lower rate than new business, were going to average the commission rate for Farmers Insurance Exchange to 10%:

308,273,000 x .1 = $30,827,300

Foremost and MCA are going to average lower because they dont pay as much commission % so we'll say 7% since Foremost only has a little over 1m in premium written.

(1,167,000 + 118,531,000) * .07 = $8,378,860

So net total P&C Estimated Commission Payout Available = $39,206,160

$39,206,160 / 500 = $78,412.32

ACCORDING TO THIS CALCULATION, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE AVERAGE FARMERS AGENT IN COLORADO TO BE MAKING $160,000/YEAR FROM FARMERS COMMISSIONS!!!
