(Not true, in fact if you were to sit on your couch for the next two years, you would have more money. The Farmers opportunity costs you your savings. Read our Agent Stories.)
Job Description
As a full-time business owner you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of your agency. You will develop and execute business plans through interaction with our staff and your own. You will be offering your consulting services to families and businesses for the sole purpose of providing them with a full risk management program taking care of everything from Auto, Home, Life, Commercial Insurance and Financial Services. (Meaning that you will be spending your time making quotas on the above lines of business that dont put any money into your pocket. They will distract you from doing business from things that will make you money like core P&C business. They will make you attend meetings when you can be selling things that will help you feed your family and pay bills.)
* Responsible for running a profitable business (profitable for Farmers and Farmers District Managers, not for YOU the Farmers Agent. You will lose money)
* Identify best practices and work with the Training Manager (Best practices are to sell Life Insurance. See training manager to learn ways into tricking clients to buying it)
* Develop business in-line with your business plan (Your business plan will be worked on at the Farmers Training camp in California. You will be instructed on the number of life policies you need to sell in order to keep your contract. How you need to spend lots of money on an office and staff and how to train your staff on promoting life sales)
* Work with customers on a daily basis (That is of course when your not attending countless district meetings that center on selling more Life Insurance)
Skills / Requirements Our current business owners come from many different backgrounds. We have teachers, lawyers, doctors, small business owners, IT, mortgage brokers and many others. There is no requirement for “prior experience”. Our most successful candidates who become great agents are flexible; detail oriented and can work independently.
Other requirements include:
* Background approval required for appointment by NASD and Farmers.
* Strong self discipline.
* Strong presentation, interpersonal, oral and written skills required.
* Commitment to personal and professional development.
* Committed to Success.
* The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and have excellent time management skills.
* Computer literate
* Outgoing and people-oriented
* A track record of successfully managing your own finances
(Prior Insurance Experience? Purposely omitted! Farmers does not want people who were previously an Insurance Agent because they will corrupt existing agents by telling them the truth on how unfair the Farmers Agent system is)
Farmers is committed to providing a safe workplace for all employees. It is the policy of Farmers to conduct a background check for all candidates who join our organization.
(Wait, employee?? I thought we were going to be a Small Business Owner. As a small business owner, how can we also be an employee?)
The Benefits
Business Ownership:
* Opportunity to run your own Business (Be your own Boss) (You will find that you are not your own boss. You will find out that the DM will be your boss and you are really a 1099 employee with no benefits. You will also find out that you have no ownership of anything)
* Freedom to make your own decisions (Decisions on where you can solicit life insurance as well as how much of your own money you should sink into the Farmers Agency. Everything else is decided by Farmers or your contract gets Cancelled!)
* Develop your own business identity (as long as you call it what we've defined you may call it.. john smith insurance agency)
* Unlimited Income Potential (Gross income that is, after expenses you will take home nothing. You will lose money unless you are at the top of the pyramid)
Business Ownership with Farmers:
* Farmers Brand Name in Insurance Industry (This is a good thing?)
* 2 – Year Financial Subsidy up to $62,500 to get you started (That you have to pay back!!!)
* When it comes time for you to retire, Farmers will purchase your agency! Guaranteed! (Purchase? Uhh no, you will get a Contract Value. You will never have the option of selling your agency for any value to anyone else. Farmers will determine what they think its worth and it is a substandard value compared to any other insurance agency opportunity)
* Family Rights Provisions (Give your business to your heirs) (Provided you last that long and dont get forced out. The alleged Heir must also meet the new farmers insurance requirements to be able to inherit your so called agency)
* Established Company (In business since 1928) (People have smoked tobacco for 100's of years. Just because its been going on for a long time, doesnt make it a good thing.)
Compensation Benefits:
* Aggressive bonus structure (Really, I never saw anything considered as such)
* High commissions structure on products sold (High commissions compared to what? Other companies pay way more for new agents compared to Farmers. Some give you 80-100% premium on new business for brand new agents. Farmers gives you 5-20% max!)
* Residual commissions after just 6 months (If you have time to sell P&C, there is no renewal on life insurance)
* Bonus paid on Agency profitability (as long as you're clients dont have losses and your agency is considered growing. When you plateu at 1000 policies, you will find it very difficult to get bonuses.)
Other Benefits:
* Farmers’ award wining University (When you give yourself awards, does that make this a valid point?)
* Personalized one-on-one training (Ok, you need to sell more life.. k come back later when you have some apps to send up)
* Be a part of Arizona’s most successful team in the growing market (Goody gumdrops!)
* Office space and other office services when you start (But after that you gotta pay for your own stuffs)
* Unlimited Access to Marketplace (As long as what you sell isnt conflicting with a current farmers product)
* Unlimited Support from District Office (Just as long as you dont need help with making money)
* Turnkey Systems in place (Put shoes on, go find clients to buy life. Trick them, submit application. Start over.)
