From the Office of the District Manager:

New Business Production

Farmers-Online Commentary: My dear readers, this email comes the month right after Farmers Insurance Group rolled out its new FACET scoring system. More on that later but in short the system pretty much rewrote the books on everything we knew about credit scoring and how it related to policy premium. We had to relearn everything.. AGAIN.

So yes, the market conditions werent really poor. Our product had turned into horse puckey the month before and we were having problems selling it!

Subject: NB Production-IMPORTANT!

All Career Agents,

I’ve been looking at the new business production numbers for the Career Agents over the past 3 weeks and they are just awful.  Some of you have just 1 or 2 new business so far this month.  With the HHhhHHolidays season starting next week, it will be extremely important to start making sales now so you don’t fall behind in your requirements.

Just an FYI…My boss, Brian Braddock, called to ask “what is going on with some of your Career Agents?”  Let me just say it was a very uncomfortable conversation for me and one I don’t want to have anytime real soon in the future.  Our full time agents are doing great right now, so I know the lack of sales activity is not because of poor market conditions.  And while the dashboard issue did set us back, it has been running great for the past week!

I am asking every Career Agent to get refocused right now and to get back into the marketing mode, make calls, set appointments and write some new business.  I will be reviewing each of your individual numbers over the next couple of weeks and will want to sit down with some of you to discuss your marketing activities.

IMPORTANT—As you can tell, I am concerned.  However, please do not use this email to make come up with excuses and/or commiserate with other agents on why your sales are down, I will not have any of it.  Instead take it as an opportunity to look in the mirror and ask yourself if you are doing everything you can to grow your business.

I know all you “say the right things”, but you are not “seeing enough people”.

Please respond to me and let me know if I have your commitment to get Back in the marketing mode TODAY!

Thanks,

(snip - cause were being nice today)

I noticed FACET grades a lot more strictly than the old FARA/FPRA, not all sales are a slam dunk like they were up to Oct.  I try to sell on value but many insist on price.  I’m going to have some staff starting as of tomorrow to help me out with the service aspect, that’s whats really been dogging me down.  Should be rolling in a good increase here out.

Signed..

ME!!!
