Current Agent

Letter from a Farmers Agent:

I started with Farmers May 2007 in one of the Center Concepts. I was promised support, training and help along the way. Their support was lowering the reqiuirements for the Reserves to become Career Agents. I felt liking I was being pushed to become a Career Agent without the knowledge or know how to run my own business successfully. The "Center" had inexperienced people training inexperienced people to be able to function in a career half cocked. I and many others were promised that an attorney and CPA would be brought in at the Center's expense to help each Career Agent have a better understanding of what is required of a "Business Owner".

It is now February 2008 and I still have no clue what I should or should not be doing when it comes to local, state and federal taxes, employees (other than hire a payroll company) and I do not have the time to really research everything. Plus, I was required to lease an office to be able to run my business. I leased a place for two years that was the least amount of time for any place and the rent was OK

I went Career in November and I continued to write a few policies. December, my lease started and it was a bad month in production ( I asked for help early in Dec. on what I should do about production. I was told by an RDM that just keep working hard and it will turn around NO other advice) and January followed suit due to being in meetings once a week that did not add any value for me to be able to do my job. It is now February and I have lost my subsidy for not making numbers. I have to catch up with 80 some policies to get back on subsidy. I cannot twist peoples' arms to buy off of me and people are buying on price in my area not value.

I am dying a slow death because if I do not make my numbers Farmers is going to let me go in April and I will still have a lease to pay for and Farmers to pay back along with supporting two young kids and a household. I have put a lot of my personal money into this and I feel cheat in this experience and I do not what others to not have the truth about how they lie to you to get you into a career with Farmers-My last resort BANKRUPCY
