Letter from an Ex-Farmers Agent: Fair and Balanced

Letter from an Agent:

Hi Folks, I've only read a few pages on your site, but I am impressed by the fact that you make an attempt to present factual information and present a fairly balanced point of view. I got this impression primarily from reading your reserve and career agent articles and the letter from a new agent (the one who's having lots of success and has an awesome dm). In your moderator comments, you don't tell him he's a dummy. You just give him some facts based on your real life experience and observations. All this gives your site a lot of credibility and makes it truly useful for someone who wants to know whether to pursue a career as a Farmers agent. I stayed on the career program for 1 year before deciding to terminate my contract. Fortunately, due to my mediocre performance, I only owed $3000 in subsidy. I will say that the company has been quite reasonable in regards to subsidy repayment. I pay them $100/mo with no interest. Anyways, I believe I signed my career contract at the end of 2005. It might have info in it that would help you fill out parts of your career agent article (specifically, the info on run to daylight numbers). If you already have access to more recent contracts this might not be helpful, but if you'd like to see mine I'd be glad to postal mail it to you. Let me know. I'll check this e-mail address for the next seven days. Best Regards, Ex-Agent

Moderator:

Thanks! We appreciate your kind words and conformation. The main point of this site among all the information here is to educate current and potential agents on things that they need to be careful of while making their way through the program or life as an agent. Mainly because some very expensive mistakes can be made without some of the knowledge that has been posted on this site.
